The nearest village shop is at Sandhead which is well stocked. Drummore has a small supermarket and post office.
Stranraer is the nearest large town with large supermarkets and also traditional shops.
There are pub/restaurants with good food at Sandhead, Drummore and Port Logan. Portpatrick has several around the lovely harbour, a very pleasant place to visit.
The area is ideal for walking, cycling, golf and bird watching, seals are often seen down in the bay near the cottage.
The area is well known for sea fishing and Tim at Ardwell Marine has a well stocked tackle shop and plenty of local knowledge.
The Port Logan fish ponds is well worth a visit to see and feed the fish.
The Mull of Galloway, the most southerly point in Scotland with its spectacular views and lighthouse is a must. There is also the nature reserve, visitors centre and Gallie Craig coffee house.
The area is surrounded by some beautiful gardens. The Logan Botanic Gardens is the most famous and well worth a visit.
Ardwell gardens along with Glenwhan and Castle Kennedy gardens should not be missed.
